SOF WEEK, LANPAC & SOME TESTING!

May is always a busy month but this year was even busier than normal! SOF WEEK is our main show of the year as it brings together not just a lot of our user community but also the vast majority of our partners as well. We had some excellent meetings with national representatives from not only the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand but also much greater interest from the European nations. As ever, it was great to meet our resellers and to talk through their opportunities as well as out R&D progress.

The timing of SOF Week was excellent for us as it coincided with the launch of the Trellisware Technologies catalogue which includes the SIGMA-ONE antenna as an option. The week was also just after the completion of some detailed antenna testing carried out by Silvus Technologies, their app note into antenna types and placement covers this in detail and we were really pleased with their results which validate the SIGMA antenna concept. We were able to release at the show our new S&C band antenna for testing, this has been designed specifically for Silvus in the 2200-2500 MHz & 4400-4940 MHz frequency bands. The SIGMA-ONE antenna was featured on both the Trellisware and Silvus stands and are is now available to purchase directly through both companies as ancillaries to their radios. This recognition by two of the most influential companies in the MANET radio market is a significant achievement for us and we appreciate all of the support we have received from many people to get us to this point.

The fun didn’t stop at SOF week as we were invited to join the Silvus ConnectU+ event in Hawaii. This was a great opportunity for us as we had been looking for an opportunity to test in the complex jungle / rainforest to see how our antennas perform. We were really pleased to find out that not only did our antennas perform well, we were also able to increaase the transmission distance by ~20% when compared to a traditional antenna. After the ConnectU+ event we then headed to visit the AUSA LANPAC trade show which included a meeting to confirm a new reseller and a surprise meeting with some old friends!

During all of the events it was great to connect with companies who offer interesting opportunities for integration. It was brilliant to carry on the conversation with Kagwerks and start to work out how we can adjust our antennas to offer better integration with their DOCK. The excellent Falcom team provided us with their latest headset and control units to enable our testing as well as being kind enough to help with the range testing in some challenging terrain (including a couple of falls whilst wearing the MOHOC helmet camera…….) We have been long time users of Snigel packs and after meeting them at SOF Week they were kind enough to let us try the new variants of both the princess and specialist 30L. The packs are as intuitive and robusy as ever and we look forward to doing some more integration work with them in the future.
